October 10th marks World Mental Health Day. A time to recognise the importance of mental health at work and in our personal lives.

This year’s theme, “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change,” highlights the value of listening to people’s experiences and turning what we hear into meaningful action.

For employers, that means understanding the realities behind mental health-related absence and giving managers the confidence to respond well. With changes to Statutory Sick Pay under the Employment Rights Act already affecting how organisations manage sickness absence, there’s even more reason to focus on practical, supportive approaches.

In our new guide, we explore what good mental health support can look like in practice, including:

  • What the changes to SSP mean for sickness absence
  • What good mental health support looks like at work
  • Practical advice for managers
  • How organisations can turn employee experiences into meaningful action
