Today, October 10th, marks World Mental Health Day. A day celebrated internationally for mental health education, awareness, and advocacy against social stigma. This year’s theme, ‘Mental health is a universal human right,’ reminds us that every individual deserves compassion and support for their mental well-being, just as they do for their physical health.

In a world that often prioritises productivity, let’s pause and reflect on the importance of mental health to create a culture of understanding and kindness, both in our professional and personal lives. We spend a significant portion of our lives at work, and a workplace that prioritises mental health not only enhances employee well-being but also boosts productivity and creativity. Let’s remember that it’s okay to not be okay sometimes, and seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

As we continue to break the stigma surrounding mental health to make a positive impact on awareness and well-being in the workplace, it’s important for those with teams to be well equipped with the skills and knowledge to support those around them.
